BRYAN ROBSON'S DREAM TEAM

Fri Sep 26, 2008 9:58 pm by sulehri

The former Reds captain picks his best United XI from the men he played with plus one wild card from the current side...

Peter Schmeichel
was a great goalkeeper with great presence - there’s not even an argument about picking him.

Gary Neville's got great attitude, he’s so committed to United, and is a top player. The fact Denis Irwin took free kicks and penalties in the 93/94 team shows the respect he had.

Gary Pallister may have been bossed about by Brucey, but for sheer talent he was a great centre half. Paul McGrath was outstanding despite his injury problems - he was a real Rolls Royce of a defender.

David Beckham is a great lad and can put the ball wherever he wants to. Ryan Giggs is just different class, no other left winger can even compare to Giggsy.

Roy Keane was just a terrific all-round action player who would always drive the team on. Paul Scholes is a top player with great intelligence and an amazing range of passing and shooting.

Eric Cantona
brought tremendous presence and composure on the ball. He was brilliant. Cristiano Ronaldo excites the fans and has to be the best player in the world at the moment.

Substitutes: I’d go for Gary Bailey as the keeper, Steve Bruce would be on the bench too – Brucey’s unlucky not to be starting. Then I’d have Mark Hughes and Brian McClair, Choccy was just a great team player, and Andrei Kanchelskis is worth a spot too. I’d put myself on there, just in case, and then Norman Whiteside – Norm would have had a reputation like Kenny Dalglish if he hadn’t had to finish so early.
